Gotta put the time in!

So, you should now I did a half marathon Nov 2011. You should know this b/c I'm gonna talk about it A LOT. A HELLUVA LOT. Besides giving birth and quitting smoking, it's probably the hardest thing I've done. I am so proud of myself that I am now a self proclaimed runner and talk about running pretty much all the time. Except for when I'm actually running which is a lot. ;) You get the point. Anyway...on my journey to half marathonism (is that a word?), I logged a lot of miles, lost a lot of weight and couldn't be happier. Well today marked the one year anniversary of the first race I did to start training. It is called the Frozen 5K and it's a flat, easy race. One of my best friends came up to run with me. He really helped get me out of my comfort zone and it was just fin to have him here! He is so awesome and I'm so lucky. Also a group of ladies from my gym got together to run as well. I didn't really have any expectations of how I'd do except that I'd beat my time from last year. Unless I died on the course this was a pretty attainable goal. Well...let me tell you...what happened at the race today was epic! I finally ran a 5k sub 30 minutes. 29:14 to be exact! I can't tell you how proud and happy I am to accomplished this. It's been a goal for awhile but I've always trained for distance, not really for time, so it wasn't a priority. BUT now that I did it, HOLY HELL it feels great.
2012 is all about pushing further, doing better and getting out of my comfort zone. I'd say today is a great start to that. Thanks to running peeps for getting me there!!!
